November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month

Every Youth Deserves a Safe Place to Call Home
At Thrive Youth Center, we believe that every young person deserves a safe place to call home. Unfortunately, for many LGBTQ+ youth, this basic need remains unmet. That’s why we’re using National Youth Homelessness Awareness Month Youth Homelessness Awareness Month as a call to action for our community. This month, we’ll be sharing stories, facts, and ways you can help fight youth homelessness.
Thrive Youth Center provides 60% of LGBTQ+ emergency shelter beds in Texas. With 13 emergency shelter beds, 45 apartments, and comprehensive wraparound services, we’re here to support youth who are navigating the challenges of homelessness. In the last year alone, we’ve provided shelter for 122 youth, offering over 18,483 nights of safety and support. But there’s so much more work to be done.
Housing insecurity among LGBTQ+ youth stems from various factors—many are kicked out of their homes simply because of their identity. Nationally, 28% of LGBTQ youth have experienced homelessness or housing instability at some point in their lives, and 16% have run away from home to escape mistreatment or fear of it. The reality is heartbreaking, but with your support, we can change this.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to help ensure our LGBTQ+ young adults have what they need during their stay at Thrive. It costs $16,000 to house and provide case management for one youth for a year, and every dollar you contribute makes a real difference.
Your donation will give youth the chance to rebuild their lives, achieve their goals, and thrive in a supportive environment. Let’s stand together and #HouseAllYouth, creating a future where no young person has to face homelessness alone.
Join us this month in raising awareness, mobilizing community action, and supporting our youth.
